We can either join the rollercoaster of hormonal imbalances, or we can climb off and take small actions that could help support the health of our hormones.

For start, sugar causes havoc with most things in our bodies, especially hormones!

Sugar's effect on your hormones

Sugar not only provides major highs and lows in our mood and energy as we all know. It can also disrupt one of the most powerful hormones in the body known as insulin.

Insulin is closely connected to all of the other hormones in your body, including estrogen and testosterone.

These ice-cream “no bake cheesecake” inspired desserts are made just for us ladies. This dessert is not only delicious, creamy, full of nutrients but it is also good for our hormones and bone health! Let us not forget that hormone imbalances over time can impact on the health of our bones. Let’s not forget the importance of essential amino acids, protein is queen! Not only does protein provide essential amino acids that your body can’t make on its own, but our bodies also needs it to produce protein-derived hormones — also known as peptide hormones

Estrogen carries out a range of functions in the female body, including regulating the menstrual cycle and growth and development of breasts, our mood, our muscle tissue, the ability to metabolise sugars etc.

However, during certain hormonal imbalances women’s estrogen levels might spike rapidly then decline, which can lead to symptoms like low mood, low bone mineral density, irritability, fog on the brain….hot flashes and more.

Phytoestrogens, also known as dietary estrogen, are naturally occurring plant compounds that may act in a way similar to that of estrogen produced by the human body.

At the end of the day, enjoying more whole foods, that are minimally processed with ant-inflammatory fats we are already on the right track!

Phytoestrogens are found in a wide variety of plant foods.

To boost your phytoestrogen intake, try incorporating it into your lifestyle, hence why I made this ice-cream bite!

Method

Add all the ingredients together until a firm dough like consistency. Using your desired mould, place the mixture into the moulds. Pop it in the freezer for 1 hour to set before serving.
