Ingredients

1/3 Cup of cooked rolled oats (left to cool overnight)

1/2 Cup frozen peas (thawed)

2 Handfuls of baby spinach

1 Cup of coconut water

We all know the primary goal of your post-workout meal is to supply our bodies with the right nutrients for adequate recovery + to maximize the benefits of your workout.

As we choose quality easy digestible foods we can promote faster nutrient absorption.

How the right foods can help us after exercise, is vital for us to know how our body is affected by physical activity.

Especially when you’re working out, your muscles use up their glycogen stores for fuel. This results in your muscles being partially depleted of glycogen. Some of the proteins in your muscles also get broken down and damaged.

However a BIG BUT, it depends on the type of activities you do along with the level of effort.

Lifting weights vs doing a high endurance workout will dramatically be different when it comes to post workout meals.

However that being said, a good balance of protein and carbohydrates are key in achieving your goals.

BUT the type of carbohydrate and protein does matter too.

Quality whole less processed food is key.


Method

Leaving the oatmeal overnight to cool off will allow for the oats to be more of a resistant starch, therefore good for our gut bacteria. Blend all the ingredients together in your food processor until a porridge consistency.

Sprinkle with some hemp seeds, fresh berries as a topping.

Option if you want a little more sweetness add a little bit of cinnamon spice or drizzle some monk fruit syrup.
